I am quickly approaching graduation!
This past year I have been doing pretty well selling my artwork. As of late though, I have realized the reasoning behind my art has changed as well as the number of sales. In the midst of making money from popular items, I have lost a sense of satisfaction from my artwork. I realize now that the lack of sales is coinciding with the fact that my passion for art has dimmed. Because what I paint has become robotic for the purpose of production and sales, I feel like the part of my soul that used to attach itself to my pieces (the personal flare that made them popular in the first place) is now feigning attachment.
From now on I plan on changing this situation. I want art to be fun again! I am still attempting to sell artwork, but aside from commissions I am going to start drawing what I want to draw, and forsake if it is popular in the market right now. That's what made me happy and I believe that is why my pieces used to be so popular: each of my pieces had a flare from my heart that made them special because everything was created at my discretion. So I plan on getting back to basics
With all of this being said, I have one piece of super awesome news! I won the Class of 2015 Graduation T-Shirt Design Contest! Go geoducks! My design will be the one printed on all of the T-shirts this year
